Loving Brothers

Two brothers

In a quiet village, there lived two brothers who inherited a large piece of land from their father. The elder brother was married and had children, while the younger brother was single. They worked together to grow crops, dividing the harvest equally between them.

One year, after a particularly good harvest, the elder brother sat in his house and thought, “My brother is single now, but someday he will marry and need more than he has. It’s only fair he keeps more of the grain.” So that night, he secretly carried a sack of grain from his share and placed it in his brother’s storehouse.

Meanwhile, the younger brother thought to himself, “My brother has a family to feed. I am alone and need less. He should have more than me.” So that same night, he too carried a sack of grain from his share and placed it in his brother’s storehouse.

The next morning, both brothers were surprised to see their own supplies undiminished. They said nothing, thinking perhaps they had miscounted. That night, they repeated their acts of kindness, each taking a sack to the other’s storehouse.

This continued for several nights, with neither brother realizing what the other was doing. One night, as fate would have it, they met on the path, each carrying a sack of grain for the other.

Understanding what had been happening, they dropped their sacks and embraced, tears streaming down their faces. Their bond of love and selflessness was unshakable.

The story goes that the spot where the brothers met was blessed, and years later, a temple was built there—a temple to celebrate love, selflessness, and familial devotion.

This timeless tale shows that true wealth lies in caring for one another, a lesson that remains relevant across cultures and generations.
